From April 2018, CN Metalworks are certified to CE Marking up to and including Execution Class 2 (EXC 2)for the manufacture and fabrication of structural steelwork, a marque which demonstrates compliance with the recognised European industry standard.
In order to be able to CE Mark structural steelwork, all members of the supply chain (importers, designers, distributors, manufacturers and their sub-contractors) must be certified for compliance with the harmonised BS EN 1090 – Execution of Steel Structures and Aluminium Structures.
This standard covers fabricated steel and aluminium components for ‘permanent incorporation’ into structures such as buildings, bridges, highways, stadia etc.
For construction steelworks, CN Metalworks have experience, technical capability and capacity to fabricate structural components comprising:
- Plate Girders
- Cellular Beams
- Light Steel Sections
- Profiled Sheeting for Cladding and Roofing
CN Metalwork are able to manufacture structural steelwork and profiled cladding and roofing for:
- New build properties
- Renovation properties and conversions, including barn conversions
- Steel framed agricultural buildings
- Industrial buildings such as warehouses and workshops
- Small buildings such as garages and storage for residential customers.
In addition, CN Metalworks produce bespoke metalwork commissions for construction and property development, including:
- Metal and mixed material staircases
- Full metal balconies and balcony railings
- Fire escape and service access staircases
- Mezzanine and ‘floating floor’ structures
Our in-house facilities include a dedicated powder-coating line, with galvanising also available.
Structural Steelwork – CE Mark Quality Assurance
The presence of the CE Mark certifies that structural steelwork fabricated by CN Metalworks meets the required current EU standards, and has been subject to the appropriate checks and controls required during the manufacturing processes.
Since July 2014, it has been a requirement for all fabricated structural steelwork in the UK to be CE Marked according to the Construction Products Regulations (CPR).
In order to be able to achieve the CE Mark, the fabricated structural steelwork that CN Metalwork produce conforms to the performance of the System of Assessment and Verification of Constancy of Performance.
The invest in personnel and manufacturing facilities include:
- Introduction of a Factory Production Control process which includes the implementation of stringent quality procedures.
- The training and appointment of a dedicated responsible welding coordinator (RWC).
- The development and implementation of welding quality management procedures.
CN Metalworks and the quality systems have been independently assessed, including inspection of the manufacturing facilities in Kendal, Cumbria, with further inspections being made as a regular activity to ensure the high standards required to hold the CE Marking are maintained.
Under the Construction Products Regulation (CPR), legal obligations have been placed on manufacturers of construction products used within the UK and the European Union to CE Mark their products where they are covered by either a harmonised standard or European Technical Assessment (ETA). This applies not only to constituent products (such as steel beams, bolts etc) but also to fabricated elements and systems made from both CE Marked and non-CE marked products.
CN Metalworks’ Declaration of Performance
CN Metalworks shall issue a Declaration of Performance (DoP) for each project which covers appropriate information for CE Mark fabricated structural steelwork manufactured.
The DoP will also include CN Metalwork’s steelwork contractor unique DoP certificate identification number.
Customers are able to check that notified body and level of assessment declared is consistent with the FPC and welding certificates where appropriate.
