The arrival of spring has also seen the next steps in the growth of CN Metalworks as we have agreed terms for moving our operations to the brown-field site adjacent to our current Kendal workshops at the head of Beezon Road.
Currently the new site is owned and used by well-respected local businessman Eddie Holmes, who operates his scrap metal business from the 0.75 acre site.
We made enquiries about the availability of the site in early 2015 as we were rapidly out-growing our current workshop, with every square inch being utilised – even with the construction of the mezzanine level to accommodate the dedicated space for blasting and powder-coating booth.
The new workshop will afford us the much needed space to expand into, with the expansion also meaning that we’ll be looking to also expand our workforce with at least five full time skilled positions part of our plans for the next 12 months.
There was a point when we thought we would have to move from our central Kendal workshop location as there seemed little scope to expand and develop, so we are delighted to have been able to realise the opportunity and look forward to many years ahead in the town.
We would like to acknowledge Cumbria Growth Hub for their support in the process, both in terms of the invaluable advice from their advisory team and also in their assistance in securing additional funding which will help with our plans for the future.
We shall keep posting further updates as the construction of the new premises progresses.
