CN Metalworks invested in a new Aquaex 7.5m x 3.5m powder coating line from leading UK manufacturer RDM Engineering, featuring the unique water wash extraction system. This advanced facility enables us to undertake high quality powder coating of both large sized and multiple quantity items.
Powder coating is one of the most popular types of paint application process for protecting metal as well as creating a tough and attractive finish. Powder coating is applied to suitably prepared metal as a free-flowing, dry powder which is then ‘cured’ at high temperatures.
Once the metal is thoroughly cleaned, it is electrostatically charged before being sprayed.
The colour is applied as a completely dry, free-flowing thermoplastic or a thermoset polymer powder – essentially a paint but without the liquid solvent. After spraying, the powder is baked at high temperature which forms the durable ‘skin’.
Once ‘cured’, powder coating will provide a protective finish for metal that is typically much harder than conventional spray paint.
It is a one coat application process, with the finished item being ready immediately after curing, rather than having to wait for the colour to dry or have subsequent lacquers applied.
It is a solvent-free process, minimal air pollution and with a material loss of under 1%, it is very environmentally friendly.
Powder coating delivers consistently high quality with the a finish which is durable and offers great protection for the metal underneath.
Any powder that does not adhere to the surface of the metal doesn’t go to waste and can be collected and reused in the future, a process which means there is little waste. The whole coating process happens in a sealed environment – in our case, an advanced Aquaex powder coating line from leading UK manufacturer RDM Engineering.
The Aquaex unit is designed to remove any fumes, paint or powder, ensuring clean and safe working conditions along with water scrubbing tower to prevent particles being exhausted into the atmosphere.
